Veterans Stadium was demolished in 2004

Veterans Stadium is the home of the Philadelphia Phillies of the National League.

Veterans Stadium opened in 1971, replacing Connie Mack Stadium (aka Shibe Park). It is a fine example of the madness of the time; artificial turf, round and multi-purpose, big, and generally unfriendly to baseball fans. There is really very little to write about because this ballpark has virtually nothing going for it.
Well, they do have the Phillie Phanatic, who is always entertaining, and cheesesteak at the concession stand, which is a greasy delight. When these pictures were taken, in 1991, the colorful seats added a little visual interest to the interior, but they have since been replaced by very boring blue seats.

Hopefully, one of the many ballpark plans under consideration for Philadelphia will come to pass and the Vet will be left for the Eagles of the NFL.
