Riverfront Stadium was demolished after the 2002 season

Riverfront Stadium is the home of the Cincinnati Reds of the National League.

In 1970, the Reds abandoned the home of the first night game in baseball history, Crosley Field, and moved into Riverfront Stadium. It's big, it's round, it has artificial turf. It looks more like a giant ashtray than a baseball stadium. Another in a long line of hideous ballparks built in the late 60's and early 70's, Riverfront's pathetic atmosphere and appearance defy description.

It is on the river, so I guess that's something. Problem is, they closed the whole place up so you can't see the river.

Actually, I have never seen this ballpark. My wife took the pictures while attending a game on a business trip. Under normal circumstances, that would not count in my book of ballparks visited. Her report was so dreadful that I have decided to make an exception.

A sad, but interesting observation on her part, is that there is nothing in the ballpark to indicate who the home team is. No banners, no logos, no signs... nothing. The Reds have done absolutely nothing to try to make the ballpark even remotely attractive or fan friendly.

Even the food was lousy!
