Frawley Stadium is the home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League. To be fair, I did not get a good feel for Frawley Stadium. A scheduling mix up saw us arriving during the top of the 6th on a gray day that was cold and threatened rain. After taking pictures, getting a hot dog and settling in, I only got to watch about two innings. Not enough to really soak up the atmosphere. |

This is a nice ballpark, with a pleasant view of the Wilmington skyline beyond the right field fence. It has the classic "90s" look; a seating bowl with the concourse at the top, and above that a semi-circle of luxury boxes. An elevated section of I-95 looms beyond the left field fence. A nice touch is the Blue Rocks logo scrawled across the facing of the press box. |

A picnic area down the right field line seems pleasant enough and, interestingly, there is an "upper deck" grandstand behind the concourse behind 3rd base. It seemed a pleasant enough park, with a few little touches to set it apart from its many brethren, but nothing to raise it above the level of "good". |

One of the best touches, though, is the Dancing Celery that emerges when the Blue Rocks score and generally jumps around like a lunatic, pumping its celery arms in jubilation. It didn't have a logo or any apparent corporate tie-in. It's just an enthusiastic guy in a celery costume. You gotta love stuff like that. |
