Hello. My name is Mike Castro. Welcome to Fields of Dreams. This web site is dedicated to baseball stadiums, large and small. Contained on these pages are photos and reviews of every major and minor league ballpark that I have visited. The list grows a little every year, so keep checking in for new arrivals.

Since you have to draw a line somewhere, I stick to the pros, from the Majors down to the Independents. I don't include college parks or semi-pro. There are exceptions, of course, because it's my website and I can do whatever I like. I haven't seen a game in all of these parks, but if I didn't see a game, I at least gained enough access to get some photos.

You may find that some of the pages are out of date, referring to teams or stadiums that no longer exist as though they still exist. I made the decision to leave my reviews as I wrote them when each page went up. It's kind of a time capsule to what I thought at the time. I have tried to add little notes to the pages when appropriate, such as "Comiskey Park was demolished in 2001" at the top of the page.

Each ballpark is represented with photographs and remembrances from my visit. I have decided to forgo the usual list of technical details such as address and dimensions. This information is usually available on the home team's web site. Instead, I provide my impressions of the place, because a ballpark is more than just seats and scoreboards and outfield dimensions. It is the atmosphere, created by the building, the environment, and the crowd, that turn a grandstand into a ballpark. A lousy building can be a great place to see a game while the most beautiful structure in the world can leave you wanting. Each park is rated on the good old hot dog scale (1 hot dog being the pits and 5 hot dogs representing baseball nirvana), with the understanding that these ratings are entirely subjective and completely open to dispute and re-evaluation should a subsequent visit prove better or worse.

If anyone has a comment about a particular ballpark that either adds information or disputes some fact or rebuts an opinion I have put forth, send it in. Well written commentary will be added to the bottom of the review as a "Reader Comment". I do, however, retain full editorial control on the content of these pages.

As for me, I live in the northern suburbs of New York City and I was born in 1964 (you can do the math yourself). As a baseball fan, my loyalties lie with the New York Mets. I first discovered my love for the team in that wonderful year of 1977 and went on to watch them finish last or next to last for the next six years. You can read this as a sign of devotion or a sign of stupidity. I will leave that call to you.

Most of the parks you find here are in the Northeast, but there are a few from locales about the country. There are others on the web who have travelled far more extensively than I to catch ballgames and you can find them in the Links section.

Feel free to e-mail me with comments, questions, and tales of your own baseball adventures.

Finally, please keep in mind that this site is presented for your enjoyment. If I didn't like a park that you love, don't get mad at me. It's just a baseball stadium, and besides, who cares what I think?

Thanks for stopping by,
Mike
